Angkor National Museum is one of the best museums I have ever visited. Plan a visit to the museum before you go to Angkor Archaeological Park (read: Angkor Wat) so you'd be able to appreciate the actual site better.
Entry fee - US$12 per adult
Expect to spend at least 2 hours here. If you love museums like I do, even 4 hours.
Why?
There are plenty of artifacts to ogle at and interactive videos to watch. I managed to watch only one because I had just over an hour to spend there. Biggest regret in Siem Reap!
A pretty pool in the museum |
Visitors should follow the determined path and you'll start at the Briefing Hall where a video summarize what you should expect to see in the museum.
Once the briefing video finished, we went to the 1000 Buddha Images gallery. It was mesmerizing. A gorgeous start to one of the most beautiful journey I've been on. Semangat eh duduk situ kira betul ke tak ada 1000 Buddha dalam gallery tu.
Follow je the route, memang ada satu pintu masuk and pintu keluar je kat semua galleries situ. Kalau rasa tak tau nak pergi mana, go across the corridor. If no more corridor, go down the stairs.
Other galleries included:
Khmer Civilization
Religion and Beliefs
- spent quite some time here because of the stories and legends
Great Khmer Kings
- take your time here so you'd get clearer picture of the past
Angkor Wat
- there's a video show on equinox phenomenon here, which I had to miss =(
Angkor Thom
Story from Stone
Ancient Costume
Oh.my.God. Best gila museum dia. It was like visiting the temples tapi ada aircond.
That's a cafe down there... |
