The Moon Boutique Hotel, Siem Reap

Hello!
Check out my accommodation in Siem Reap~

The Moon Boutique Hotel

The Moon Boutique Hotel

I can't stop singing praises when it comes to this hotel. It is everything the reviews on TripAdvisor said and more! This boutique hotel is a haven to get back to after a day exploring the fascinating Siem Reap.

The staff are courteous, helpful and friendly. The room huge and well-equipped. Lovely pool, delicious breakfast, gorgeous hotel ground. In short, EXCELLENT!

Booking - Easy but I suggest to skip their website & use third party or look for package for better price. Mine was a package price with flight, booked via AirAsiaGo
Rate - SO worth it. I took Deluxe Double and the room was SPACIOUS
Location - A bit far from other hotels (thus the free tuk-tuk service), in the midst of a village
Dining - Limited halal food but I'm not complaining. The pastries are delicious and the juice refreshing. Good coffee too!
Service - I'll repeat. EXCELLENT

View from my room :)

Like I've told you earlier, I got a room ready even when I had arrived hours before the standard check-in time. Check-in procedure was a breeze and totally refreshing thanks to cold towels and welcome drinks.

After filling up a simple form, the staff who picked me up from airport escorted me to the room and helped me to familiarize myself with the room. Reangsay showed where everything was and asked when I'd like my complimentary fruit basket *grin*

That's Reangsay & he looks a bit like Remy Ishak

More surface and corners to put stuff

The Moon Boutique Hotel
Told ya. Well-equipped. Need not request anything.

The Moon Boutique Hotel
More place to sit! Good thing there are plants blocking the pool view =D

Oh. You get a phone so you'd be able to call the hotel easily when you want to get back =D They offer FREE tuk-tuk ride within town, remember?

The Moon Boutique Hotel
Remember how to use a Nokia?

Here's the cafe where you'll be enjoying your delicious breakfast. I love the concept. Breezy and tranquil.

Pool closes at 10 p.m. so I took the opportunity to swim at night. (ye la, it was hot during the day and I was away most of the time pun). Pool is only a few steps away from rooms ya.

And the marshmallow on top the ice cream? The room I got is right next to the spa!

Took a two-hour treatment, half d price I usually paid

After scrub, I showered here with the masseur next to me :')

So, if you're coming to Siem Reap and looking for some affordable good time (not the naughty kind) do consider The Moon Boutique Hotel!

China Muslim Restaurant (CLOSED)

China Muslim Restaurant

Taste - Tasty! <3<3<3
Price - RM68.60 for 2 pax
Ambiance - simple Oriental

It's quite easy to find this restaurant. Look for Hotel Seri Malaysia. Next to it, there's Uptown Bayan Baru. There are some new shops (Quartermile Bayan Baru) opposite and that's where CMR is. Plenty of parking available.

Mind you, the menu we got was in Malay & Chinese. Do ask for help if you need translation.

We ordered cincau drinks and a glass of lime + asamko, which turned out to be plain ole limau ais with asam boi.

Kedai No. 7, Nipah Bay, Pangkor Island

Kedai No. 7, Nipah Bay, Pangkor Island

First of all, my apologies for the poor quality pictures. We were hungry and I had only a few seconds to take pictures.

Taste - Delicious!
Price - RM100 + drinks (I forgot how much)
Ambiance - You can hear the sound of the waves :)

There were 4 of us and we took the RM100 set which included rice, siakap 3 rasa, ketam masak cili (chili crab), udang goreng tepung (prawn fritters), kailan goreng (fried veggie), tom yam, and telur dadar (omelette).

Coral Bay Resort, Pangkor Island, Perak

So after my girlfriend's wedding, we took the boat to Pulau Pangkor or the Pangkor Island.

Pangkor Island

The ferry journey from Lumut jetty took about half an hour and there was one stop in Terminal Penumpang Sungai Pinang. Tourists, don't get down here.

Pangkor Island

Instead, you should get off at this jetty.

Here's the hotel I stayed in- the Coral Bay Resort. It was this or another resort nearby and I was glad that I chose this one instead.

Booking - Easy via Agoda.com or from the hotel's website. BUT my friend checked the hotel's website and room was available but about an hour later, front desk said no more room. Not sure if the rooms were snapped so quickly or website was not accurate.
Rate - Superior room RM198/night.
Location - Good. Walking distance to the beach and plenty of eateries nearby.
Dining - Good food. Average ambiance.
Service - Average. Front desk courteous enough but not very accommodating.

Overall - 3 <3<3<3 of 5

Apparently there are two types of accommodation here. The hotel rooms are in the main building while the apartments are located in the building across the swimming pool. There is a bridge connecting to a building opposite the road, but I'm not sure what type of rooms are situated there.

Here's the superior room. Spacious, clean and fairly well-equipped.

Breakfast is in Moonlight Serenade, a huge and noisy dining room, none like the name suggested. One side has view of the hotel's front and the other side has nice high glass walls with view of the pool.

Breakfast selection- acceptable. The usual suspects like cereal, a couple of local dishes i.e fried rice, fried kuetiau, then the baked beans, toast, eggs, noodle station and porridge corner.

I came down for breakfast before 9 a.m and the place was crowded. But by 9.30 the place grew quieter as the big groups went for their activities and the food were replenished. So don't worry about not enough food.

Good place for family and I'd say worth the money spent. Especially the apartments.

Lumut Country Resort, Lumut, Perak

Lumut Country Resort

Stayed here for a night because my girlfriend held her wedding reception here. Beautiful place.

Lumut Country Resort
Lumut Country Resort

Booking - Tricky. I believe you can book via Agoda.com but my reservation was done via my gf- as a part of her wedding package.
Rate - Part of the wedding package so I only paid extra RM50/night
Location - NOT near the beach, not on the island. An option if you need a place to crash when you're in Lumut town or attending a wedding in the resort itself :)
Dining - Not applicable.
Service - Very good. Friendly and accommodating staff.

Overall 3 <3<3<3 of 5

Like I said, it's a beautiful place, on the outside. The inside of the room (and the door) could use some TLC though. Okay for a night stay if you gotta stay in town.
