Lemon Lime Cake with Lemony Lime Cream


I love lemon, lime, ginger... you get the picture. Those nice smelling stuff. 
So, it's no wonder that I absolutely adore today's cake- the Lemon Lime Cake with Lemony Lime Cream!

Perfect for breakfast & tea, I'd say.



• 1 stick unsalted butter
• 2 eggs
• 1 cup sugar
• 1 tbsp lemon rind
• 1 tbsp lime rind
• 1 1/2 cups flour
• 1 tsp baking powder
• 3 tbsp lemon + lime juice
• 1/4 cup milk
• 1 tsp vanilla essence


1) Beat butter, eggs and sugar until fluffy. Then, add in lemon rind, lime rind and vanilla essence.

2) Add in sifted flour and baking powder into mixture, followed by lemon + lime juice and milk. Mix well & pour into baking tin or cupcake liners

3) Bake at 180°C for 25 - 30 minutes or 10 - 15 minutes for cupcakes.

Lemon Lime Cake recipe

While we wait for the cake to cool, let's whip up the cream!


• 200 ml whipping cream (cold)
• 3 tbsp icing sugar
• 1 tbsp lemon + lime rind
• 1 tsp vanilla essence


1) Whip cream using mixer until soft peaks form.

2) Add icing sugar, lemon + lime rind (leave some to sprinkle later) & vanilla essence.

3) Slather or pipe the cream onto cake!
